A clever use of parametric modeling and of numerical simulations is a crucial element in the analysis and in the understanding of the complex processes and methods yielding to the production of an industrial product.

There is a wide range of applications and specialized codes dealing with building of models and simulation. Each problem to be solved, each single industrial need determines the choice of the proper software tool.

Moreover there are plenty of approaches that can yield the right answer and each of them can offer an alternative description of the results. Only a deep knowledge of the system under scrutiny can draw light over the set of data coming out of each simulation.

The specific strength of SUM relies on its knowledge base of different systems and processes and on the structured focus on each new problem, which ensure the highest reliability in models setup and the most accurate results.

Forced ventilation of a battery pack

Battery packs are a crucial components in electric vehicles. We studied how to optimize the ventilation of a pack composed by several piled batteries, accurately modeling their shape and their physical characteristics.

Electric micro-generator

It can be very annoying not to be able to use an electronic cigarette because the battery charge is too low. We were asked to propose a solution, allowing the users to recharge the battery by simple mechanical means. Thus we designed an electric micro-generator, that fits inside the thin body of an electronic cigarette and can be made to produce electricity by simply spinning it with the fingers.

Stress analysis of disposable medical devices

Starting from the accurate 3D reproduction of a disposable cartridge used in the cataract surgery, it was possible to predict the weaknesses of the design and to suggest suitable modifications.

From models to reality

SUM specializes in modeling and simulating by means of numerical tools, but its aim is always to come back to reality. The Anyoon project poses a big challenge for our company, but at the same time it provides the chance to directly impact on our day life.
